Lesson of the Broken Air Conditioner

I am amazed at how quickly we lose heart and faith when trials come our way. I am amazed at myself for quickly loosing heart and faith over trials.

Matthew 13:1-23

13 That day Jesus went out of the house and was sitting by the sea. And [a]large crowds gathered to Him, so He got into a boat and sat down, and the whole crowd was standing on the beach.

And He spoke many things to them in parables, saying, “Behold, the sower went out to sow; and as he sowed, some seeds fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate them up. Others fell on the rocky places, where they did not have much soil; and immediately they sprang up, because they had no depth of soil. But when the sun had risen, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. Others fell [b]among the thorns, and the thorns came up and choked them out. And others fell on the good soil and *yielded a crop, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty. He who has ears, [c]let him hear.”

An Explanation

10 And the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?” 11 [d]Jesus answered them, “To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted. 12 For whoever has, to him more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him. 13 Therefore I speak to them in parables; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. 14 [e]In their case the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled, which says,

[f]You will keep on hearing, [g]but will not understand;
[h]You will keep on seeing, but will not perceive;
15 For the heart of this people has become dull,
With their ears they scarcely hear,
And they have closed their eyes,
Otherwise they would see with their eyes,
Hear with their ears,
And understand with their heart and return,
And I would heal them.’

16 But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear. 17 For truly I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.

The Sower Explained

18 “Hear then the parable of the sower. 19 When anyone hears the [i]word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is the one on whom seed was sown beside the road. 20 The one on whom seed was sown on the rocky places, this is the man who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; 21 yet he has no firm root in himself, but is only temporary, and when affliction or persecution arises because of the [j]word, immediately he [k]falls away. 22 And the one on whom seed was sown among the thorns, this is the man who hears the word, and the worry of the [l]world and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. 23 And the one on whom seed was sown on the good soil, this is the man who hears the word and understands it; who indeed bears fruit and brings forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty.”

Our family is currently going through a trial of a broken-down air conditioning unit. We live in Texas and it gets hot. I spent the day observing myself and my spirit this past week. I took notice that my joy faded. I became worried about money. I was obsessing over how hot the rooms were getting…and so on. Is this the kind of behavior that is displayed in a believer in Yeshua? I think not!

The verses in Matthew (13:2-21) spoke volumes to my spirit. 20 The one on whom seed was sown on the rocky places, this is the man who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; 21 yet he has no firm root in himself, but is only temporary, and when affliction or persecution arises because of the [j]word, immediately he [k]falls away…

I asked myself, “What does it mean to have no root in himself?” In prayer, the Lord spoke to me about being riddled with anxiety, no trust, fear and doubt. Taking ahold of faith and drinking of the Living Water are not possible when I have no firm root in myself. Think about this. Do you have a firm root?

Then the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) spoke to me and had me remember verses that are foundational for faith..

                                           John 14:6-- Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life;                                              no one comes to the Father but through Me.
                                           Deuteronomy 6:4-5-- “Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is                                                    one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all                                                    your soul and with all your might.
                                           Galatians 5:22-- 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience,                                                  kindness, goodness, faithfulness
                                           Matthew 6:33--But [s]seek first [t]His kingdom and His righteousness, and                                                all these    things   will be [u]added to you.

So, what was birthed out of this lesson. Faith! I now have faith to always pray with expectation. That’s the way we should pray. I now have faith to know that our God hears and will answer. I now have the faith to be patient and to wait for His perfect timing and not pursue my own timing. I DECLARE IT! THIS IS TRUTH!

I was speaking with my husband regarding the matter of our A/C, and he said that we will take care of what we can and let God handle the rest. I believe that this is how most people look at life and situations. This statement is wrong.

It’s wrong because it can be compared with giving Yehovah our left overs.

                                           Matthew 7:6-- “Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your                                                     pearls before swine, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and                                                       tear you to pieces.

We would never think of giving an animal the choicest of steak and food and then turn and give our children and family the left overs. So…why would you give your Creator your left overs? What does getting someone’s left overs do to you? I know what it does to me. Take your feelings and apply those to our Elohim.

Elohim is the one who provides. Elohim is the one who heals. Elohim is the one who defends. Elohim is the one who comforts. Elohim is the one who brings peace. Elohim is the one who loves us completely.

                                           Matthew 7:7-11--  [c]Ask, and it will be given to you; [d]seek, and you will find; [e]knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you [f]who, when his son asks for a loaf, [g]will give him a stone? 10 Or [h]if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he? 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!

                                           Proverbs 30:4-9--Who has gone up to heaven and come down?
                                           Who has cupped the wind in the palms of his hands?
                                           Who has wrapped up the waters in his cloak?
                                           Who established all the ends of the earth?
                                           What is his name, and what is his son’s name?
                                           Surely you know!

                                                                        Every word of God’s is pure;
                                           he shields those taking refuge in him.
                                                                        Don’t add anything to his words;
                                           or he will rebuke you, and you be found a liar.

                                                                        [God,] I have asked two things of you;
                                            don’t deny them to me as long as I live —
                                                                        keep falsehood and futility far from me,
                                           and give me neither poverty nor wealth.
                                           Yes, provide just the food I need today;
                                                                        for if I have too much, I might deny you
                                           and say, “Who is Adonai?”
                                           And if I am poor, I might steal
                                           and thus profane the name of my God
